Termites:
The two most common termites in the Arizona are the subterranean termite and dry wood termites.
Subterranean termites are native to Arizona and live underground in large colonies, they are social insects. They enter structures from the ground up to eat and they feed on any cellulose products they find. They do not live in the structure but return to the ground and to thier colony. They travel in exploratory shelter tubes which are evidence of infestation. These tubes can be found on an exterior foundation wall and they can be found hanging from a ceiling or coming out of a wall. It is more likely you would see the evidence and not the insect.
Dry wood termites live in the wood in much smaller colonies than the subterranean termite.
Termites should not go untreated as they will cause structural damage to your home if left untreated.
