Why Termite Pretreats Matter in Arizona
Arizona ranks among the highest-risk states for subterranean termite damage in the nation. Subterranean termites, primarily Heterotermes aureus (desert subterranean) and Reticulitermes species, are native to Arizona soil and forage constantly for cellulose (wood). A colony can contain hundreds of thousands of workers, silently damaging structural wood, framing, and other cellulose materials from the ground up.
Pretreating soil and foundation areas during construction creates a chemical barrier between the soil and the structure before the slab is poured. This barrier intercepts termite foraging tubes before they reach the building. A properly applied pretreat, maintained with post-construction monitoring, provides years of protection, far more effective and far less expensive than treating a termite infestation after the fact.
